Gothic Baby Clothes
Affordable Lolita. Is there such a thing?!
Hehe, alright, the break down. I live in the U.S. and I’ve fallen madly in love with the Gothic Lolita style. I’ve bought two dresses internationally and poured all over eBay finding hardly anything worth while for under $75. I don’t have enough money to keep splurging on true Lolita brands (such as Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Mary Magdalen, and Victorian Maiden). I’ve heard suggestions of looking through thrift stores and the like for little knick knacks that could make up an outfit. But does anyone know of particular stores that carry Lolita-esque clothing or of some patterns I could use?
Anything would be helpful!
You will never find lolita clothing under 75 dollars, sorry. A great quality 90 dollar dress, that I can tell you where to find.
Please do not shop for lolita clothing on eBay, trust me when I say that an insane amount of them are scams. Honestdragonchina, Betterbetterday, Momo’s handicraft store and more all steal pictures from web stores like brand names and even Chinese off-brands that no one’s heard of to make it less likely people will find out, then when you order they make a crappy replica and send it to you. Even if their feedback is high, they could still be scams. A friend and I ordered from Little Chili Lolita Shop, who had 99.9% positive feedback and thousands of feedback, and the items we recieved literally fell apart.

Their prices are in Hong Kong dollars, so it’s much cheaper than it looks. Their dresses and jumpers are about 90 dollars each, and they also sell skirts, blouses, petticoats, bloomers, hair accessories, and shoes. Their stuff is wonderful quality, and trust me when I say you won’t find anything cheaper. It’s best to save up and buy a lot from them at once, or do a group order with some local lolita, because the more you order the better deal on shipping you will get.
A way to cut prices on lolita clothing is to find your blouses at the mall. Stores like Forever 21, Wetseal, and Charlotte Russe often carry Victorian blouses that would work just wonderfully for lolita fashion. It’s better to spend what, $20 than $50-$100.
You can find patterns at any crafts store, just look for something that looks lolita, or you could modify to look lolita. There are plenty of things with bell skirts you’ll find. You can also make your own patterns (easier than it sounds) Or buy the English Gothic & Lolita Bible and use the patterns in there. The first magazine wasn’t that great, but the second one was so much better, so I really do recommend buying it to any English-speaking Lolita.
