Gothic Lolita Costume
Where are some places that I can get these pieces for my costume?
I’d like to put together a Lolita costume and wonder where to find the parts I need to get this look? Something like this Gothic Lolita Black Dress.
I guess it will depend on what look you are trying to create. There is the Babydoll look, punk, Anime Japanese look, or the Victorian maid look.
Which one do you prefer? Oh, there is also the look from the TV show NCIS. The girl on the show Abby wears some fantastic looks they have put together for her.
She wears great platform shoes and boots, studded chokers, patterned socks of all colors and almost always in black. Very Goth.
The frilly skirts and full petticoat look is cool too.
You might try the short full dress or skirt and top with a tutu under it or if you can find an old net petticoat at a thrift store you can always shorten it to get the right length. Or maybe you could add dark ribbons hanging down and make it entirely different looking.
You can get great knee high socks just about anywhere and will have a big selection now that is fall with lots of dark colors. You can add some ribbons to the socks and make bows, as many as you want and where ever you want them. You could put them on six on one side up the front or angle them in a diagonal from ankle to the back of your calf. Maybe do a contrasting ribbon and get some of the small quarter inch ribbon you can sew with and make you own pattern in some socks which no one else will have since you made them.
Main thing to remember is you can add bits and pieces as you go along and not spend a bunch of money all at once. It is your outfit and it is finished when you’re finished with it.
